The Aberlea Story

What kind of veterinary practice do you get when you combine:

  • A practice owner who has an innate sense of fulfillment by making a difference in the lives of patients and pet owners.
  • An owner whose experiences are formed across the spectrum of 14 practices, the Army Veterinary Corps, and the animal pharmaceutical industry
  • An owner who stands firm in his conviction that the quality and consistency of the care your pet receives gives it an edge in achieving better outcomes in life
  • A place where the practice philosophy is to place the patient’s best interest above all else

You get a veterinary practice with a vision like the one at Aberlea Veterinary Life Planning.

As the majority of today’s veterinary practices focus on growing their patient bases to numbers that aren’t serviceable and are transaction-driven in their business models, Aberlea is an attempt to take back what makes veterinary medicine great. We focus a real relationships built on maintaining a smaller patient base. Our efforts are focused on knowing you and as importantly knowing your pet. We strive to preserve the good health your patient has using pillars of preventive and pre-emptive health care. With characteristics like these, we are better equipped to act when sickness and disease inevitably arise. Patients at Aberlea have consistent advocacy in Dr. Lane and a quality team on their sides. The process is different than most places, but we believe is better for everyone, most of all our beloved pets.

If you’ve read this far, you might wonder about our name. Aberlea is the name of Dr. Lane’s grandfather’s Angus farm. He drew an immense amount of inspiration from his “Papa John” who devoted himself to students in the Animal Science Department at University of Tennessee for 36 years. “Aber” comes from the Aberdeen Angus breed of cattle raised on the farm. “Lea” is an old European word for a meadow of green grass. At his grandfather’s house there were never any strangers, and a family atmosphere permeated. We hope you get the same feeling when you walk through the doors at Aberlea in Murfreesboro.
